TBS Religious School K-6th

Tot Shabbat: Friday evenings once a month 6:30 pm
Held at 6:30 pm on the 2nd Friday of the month. Designed for Pre-school through 1st Grade children, Tot Shabbat includes a singing service in the Sanctuary, a fun Jewish arts and crafts project, and a delicious Oneg.

Pre-K Little Learners: Sundays once a month 9-10 am
Similar to Tot Shabbat, this program is designed for parents and children to learn about Jewish culture through songs, dance, crafts, stories and music. Tuition is FREE!

Kindergarten: Sundays 8:45 - 11:15 am
Kindergartners are introduced to the Hebrew letters and some blessings and prayers. They study Jewish holidays, Shabbat, Bible stories and Mitzvot through hands-on activities, music and art projects.

Grades 1 & 2: Sundays 8:45 - 11:15 am
Students learn Hebrew letters, simple vocabulary words, spoken phrases, prayers and blessings. They study Jewish Holidays, Shabbat, Bible stories, Israel and Mitzvot. Their family education program theme is Jewish names and they create Hebrew name plaques.

Grade 3: Sundays 8:45 - 11:15 am and Wednesdays* 4:30-6:00 pm
Phonetic reading is established, with a solid recognition of the Hebrew alphabet and the introduction of some blessings and prayers. Children learn to write Hebrew script. They study the Holidays, Torah and Israel. Their family education theme is Shabbat and they create a Shabbat Kit for home use.

Grade 4: Sundays 8:45 - 11:15 am and Wednesdays* 4:30-6:00 pm
Phonetic reading is reinforced and strengthened, as is sight-reading. Students begin to have fluency with familiar words and phrases and begin mastering prayers. They study Torah, Holidays, Israel and Jewish Identity and Values. Their family education theme is Reform Judaism.

Grade 5: Sundays 8:45 - 11:15 am and Wednesdays* 4:30-6:00 pm
Reading fluency increases. Students should be able to easily recognize additional words and phrases; more prayers are mastered. They study Jewish history, Israel and Holidays. Their family education theme is Israel.

Grade 6: Sundays 8:45 - 11:15 am and Wednesdays* 4:30-6:00 pm
Prayers commonly used in the Torah Service are chanted. Students should be able to read with fluency and understand the meanings of key phrases. Students study Jewish life cycle, Mitzvot, Ethics and Tikkun Olam. They visit the Museum of Jewish Heritage and create their own Living Museum. Their family education theme is Torah and they make a Yad (Torah Pointer).

*Wednesday tutoring is provided as small group instruction from 4:30-5, 5-5:30 or 5:30-6pm. Virtual lessons are also available in place of Wednesday instruction for a small fee.
